Stephanie June Alfred & John James Iaquinta

Before Stephanie met John, she fell in love with his family while working at their restaurant, Julio’s Cafe. After he returned home from Colorado, Clarksburg natives John and Stephanie both found themselves at the restaurant and quickly became friends. Customers joked that the two behaved like a married couple and, almost three years later, that became a reality. While visiting John’s brother on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, John took Stephanie on a ride in a golf cart to boat docks where they could watch the sunset. After asking Stephanie if she was happy, John promised her the world and asked her to marry him. She made him get down on one knee before saying yes. Stephanie and John decided to get married in the same church where her grandmother, aunt, and mother were married. The bride’s mother escorted her down the aisle, which was draped with ivory curtains tied back with greenery, decorated with tall vases wrapped in rhinestones containing floating candles surrounded by white rose petals. The bride’s embellished A-line dress featured a nude, two-tone body lining, soft tulle skirt, and semi-cathedral train. John sported a classy black tuxedo with black bow tie. Following the couple’s exchange of traditional vows, a reading of “Union” by Robert Folgham was performed before the lighting of the unity candle. Guests traveled to Pete Dye Golf Club for the reception, where the newlyweds performed an American rumba to Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight.” The cake featured tiers of gold fondant, blush fondant with edible lace appliqués, and ivory fondant with the couple’s monogram. A shark’s head groom’s cake played off of John’s nickname, “Sharkbyte.” After the couple drove away in a golf cart through a sparkler send-off, guests left the event with John’s mother’s homemade spaghetti sauce and a caricature artist’s drawing. The newlyweds spent their honeymoon at Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
