[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he West Virginia University Erickson Alumni Center was a flurry of activity on March 12, when it welcomed WV Weddings magazine to host our WV Weddings Extravaganza. As the sun dawned over the center’s Flying WV, washing over the season’s first spring flowers, Misti Sims of Little Black Dress Events was busy piecing together décor to create a stunning secret garden theme, and magazine staff were busy finalizing all the little details that made this event one of the most successful weddings extravaganzas in the state.
As more than 150 brides, bridesmaids, and mothers-of-the-bride can attest, this event was key to planning a perfect wedding. Attendees arrived to enjoy brunch by some of West Virginia’s top wedding caterers, a presentation by Sam Saboura of TLC’s Something Borrowed, Something New, and a weddings expo filled with vendors displaying everything from top venues to proper place settings. Door prizes, like photography packages and honeymoon trips, were awarded to brides attending the event, and one lucky bride walked away with a free register in her choice of WV Weddings issues.
Event sponsors included the WVU Erickson Alumni Center, The Blennerhassett, and Little Black Dress Events, who made sure everything went off hitch-free. “We always encourage brides to have a wedding planner, if they can. So we took our own advice and let Little Black Dress Events work its magic,” says Nikki Bowman, editor and publisher of WV Weddings. “I couldn’t have asked for a better event. Misti’s creative vision and organization made it the best ever.”
