Amanda and Bryan love to have a good time, from tailgating and dancing to live music and bar crawls. These two were the lives of the party before they met. What they quickly realized in April 2012, their first meeting, was that having a good time was even better together. The pair met at a golf-themed bar crawl in Morgantown and soon became inseparable.

Bryan, originally from Charleston, decided five years after their first meeting that the time was right for a marriage proposal. The outdoorsy couple was spending a weekend at Bryan’s family’s cabin on the Greenbrier River. They spent their last day there on the river, fishing. Bryan insisted on handing Amanda a fly that he thought might work with the fish, but when she turned around to receive it from him, she found him on one knee in the stream holding a fly box that contained her engagement ring.

The couple chose the Benedict Haid Farm in Clendenin as the setting for their nuptials. The ceremony was held under a pergola on an unseasonably warm October day. The groom’s close friend, Aakash Vaghela, wrote wedding vows for the couple to recite and officiated the ceremony. For her wedding, the bride wore an ivory-colored Allure gown with lace and beading overlay. She carried a bouquet made by the groom of burgundy lilies, blush and white carnations, white roses, eucalyptus, fern, and blackberries. The groom also made boutonnieres for his groomsmen from pheasant feathers, berries, and greenery, using a fly-tying technique to bind the materials together.

After the ceremony, the couple and their guests moved to the farm’s barn for a reception. The decor reflected the fall season, and guests dined on bourbon-glazed pork tenderloin, lemon rosemary chicken, roasted potatoes, mixed vegetables, and macaroni and cheese. Sweets included a build-your-own s’mores bar and a three-tiered, rustic-style wedding cake. Following a wedding trip to Asheville, North Carolina, the couple returned home to Morgantown.
