Raleigh, North Carolina, natives Will and Carson met in middle school where they became good friends. Despite Will’s secret crush on Carson, they went their separate ways following high school. After reconnecting through Carson’s mother, the two got together in Brooklyn on the rooftop of the Wythe Hotel for a drink and began dating. During a trip to Iceland, Will created a small scavenger hunt for Carson at their hotel, where he left a meaningful book and letter in five different spots, proposing at the finale in 30-degree weather.

The ceremony took place in a garden at Tuscawilla Farm, where Carson’s father escorted her down the aisle to the song “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles. The bride’s dress, designed by Lisa Gowing, featured a sweetheart neckline, spaghetti straps, a lace bodice, and flowy skirt; her bouquet was full of locally grown silver greenery mixed with white roses and peonies. The groom and groomsmen accessorized their navy suits with red and white checkered socks. Carson and Will exchanged vows that they wrote together. At the reception at Valley View Farm, a photo booth and bourbon bar entertained guests. The newlyweds shared their first dance to the song “All Eyes on You” by St. Lucia. Perhaps encouraged by a DIY bourbon bar complete with a recipe for a Manhattan, guests joined the couple on the dance floor. Guests could choose between a red velvet cake with cream cheese icing and assorted cupcakes. Despite the fact that the wedding took place after the area experienced devastating flooding, everyone came together and worked diligently to give Carson and Will the nuptials of their dreams. Will is a teaching physician in family medicine in the U.S. Air Force, while Carson is the digital content manager for The Wildlife Society, a nonprofit agency. The couple resides in Washington, D.C.
